Neurodiversity in Colour Database

Our goal is to highlight written work from neurodivergent people of colour. In particular, we want to include articles and essays written by neurodivergent people of colour, interviews featuring neurodivergent people of colour, and research papers that focus on the perspectives of neurodivergent people of colour. Currently, our directory is particularly focused on autistic people of colour. We specifically want to create a database that is easily searchable by author identity, geographic location/countries discussed, article topic, and article type. We hope that this will be helpful for individuals who are looking for writings from authors with shared experience or identities, as well as for researchers.

All Neurotypes YouTube channel

Our videos primarily focus on autism and mental health-- we are fascinated by neurodiversity and understanding what a neurodiversity-affirming approach looks like in various situations/contexts.

More specifically, our videos are a combination of:

  1. Interviews where neurodivergent individuals share their personal and/or professional experiences;

  2. Discussions about research or current events related to neurodiversity;

  3. Attempts at philosophy/ethics related to autism or neurodivergence.

Many of our videos also discuss clinical care for autistic people, especially those who are also marginalized in other ways.

Most of our videos are made by Sam, who is an autistic autism researcher. He is particularly fascinated by what are often considered to be the more "challenging" components of neurodiversity. For example, what does it mean to be neurodiversity-affirming in situations that are objectively challenging?

Clinician and Therapist Support program

We are thrilled to launch our clinician support program in 2025. This program aims to provide therapists and other clinicians with mini-grants to support free or sliding scale services to neurodivergent individuals. To supplement our mini-grant, we are offering periodic discussion/reflection groups for clinicians to discuss topics related to neurodiversity-affirming clinical services as well as accessibility and inclusion more generally. More information about our mini-grant can be found below.

What is All Neurotypes Clinician and Therapist Support Program?

  • We are currently in the pilot stage of this program where participating organizations/therapists receive $500-750 for a three month period to support free or sliding scale care for a neurodivergent patient/client. At the end of the three month period, we will host an (optional) discussion/reflection meeting where clinicians/therapists can:

    • Share their experience with the grant/any feedback they may have;

    • Discuss topics related to neurodiversity-affirming care as well as cultural humility, class consciousness, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and other areas of inclusion;

    • Discuss future goals for their practice and practical applications.

Neurodiversity-affirming training

We believe all people do well when they have the skills and resources available to do so. We also understand many teachers, therapists, and professionals left school and advanced degree programs without the preparation needed to respectfully serve neurodivergent individuals.

In particular, schools and degree programs often overlook key topics such as autonomy, self-advocacy, and bridging communication gaps in a collaborative and respectful way (rather than placing the onus fully on neurodivergent individuals to assimilate to a neurotypical world.)

We aim to make our training inclusive of experiences that are often under-discussed even within the neurodiversity movement, with a particular emphasis on autistic individuals with intellectual disabilities, autistic individuals with higher support needs, and autistic individuals with co-occurring psychiatric conditions such as psychosis.
